Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA)

A type of androgenetic hair loss that occurs over the entire scalp such that there is no area of the head that is unaffected by hair loss. This is in contradistinction to androgenetic alopecia which does not affect the area of the scalp within the lower aspects of the temporal and occipital regions, the so termed ‘permanent zone’ of hair from which hair is harvested in hair transplantation surgery are not candidates for surgical hair restoration [ relating to the impermanance of the hair throughout their scalp ].
