Dr. Selam Ogbalidet

Esteemed Hair Transplant Fellow

Dr. Selam Ogbalidet brings exceptional medical training, academic achievement, and compassionate patient care to Ziering Medical and the field of hair restoration. A graduate of the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Ogbalidet completed her Family Medicine Residency at Western University, where she continued to refine her clinical expertise with a focus on aesthetic and restorative medicine. As a Ziering Medical Fellow, Dr. O, as we affectionately call her, is the onsite Clinical Manager and Sub-Investigator of the current  ACN-101 clinical trial, which endeavors to study the efficacy of a personalized stem-cell derived topical hair treatment (aka “secretomes”).

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Ogbalidet was recognized as an outstanding student and leader, receiving multiple nominations for Faculty of Medicine Awards in Leadership, Health Advocacy, and Clinical Excellence across specialties, including dermatology, otolaryngology, psychiatry, and emergency medicine. She was also nominated for the MD Class of 2022 Valedictorian, a testament to her peers’ respect for her professionalism, advocacy, and contributions to medical education.

A passionate advocate for equity and representation in medicine, Dr. Ogbalidet co-created the University of Ottawa Plastic Surgery Clerkship Guide and developed a nationally recognized Skin of Color curriculum, initiatives that have enriched medical training across Canada. Her leadership has extended beyond the classroom as a founding executive of the Association of Women Surgeons, Ottawa Chapter, where she championed opportunities for women pursuing surgical careers.

Dr. Ogbalidet is also a published researcher and writer, with peer-reviewed publications in the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine & Surgery and other leading outlets. Her scholarly work has explored skin health, dermatologic treatments, and medical education, and she has presented at national conferences, including the Canadian Dermatology Association Annual Conference and the Vegas Cosmetic Surgery & Aesthetic Dermatology Conference.

In addition to her academic accomplishments, Dr. Ogbalidet has pursued advanced training in aesthetic and regenerative medicine through the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAAM) Certificate Programs, where she gained expertise in minimally invasive procedures, including PRP, laser therapies, injectables, and skin rejuvenation treatments.

Her approach to hair restoration blends scientific rigor, artistry, and empathy, ensuring that every patient feels heard, supported, and confident throughout their treatment journey. Whether advancing the science of medicine through research or guiding patients through their own transformations, Dr. Ogbalidet remains deeply committed to excellence, innovation, and compassionate care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ogbalidet values balance and creativity. She enjoys Pilates, cycling, swimming, hiking, and ice skating, as well as exploring the arts through pottery, painting, and creative writing. She also loves traveling, cooking, visiting museums, and taking time for wellness and spa experiences.
