New Hair Transplant Technology and Treatments [2025 Updates]
Led by Dr. Craig Ziering, Ziering Medical has always been at the forefront of introducing the latest technology in hair transplant and the newest hair restoration treatments.
Here, we will explore the innovative treatments, techniques, and technologies that form part of our comprehensive hair restoration approach at Ziering Medical.
1. Stem Cell Banking
Could you save your hair now and use it later? Yes, it’s now possible with stem cell banking. In partnership with Acorn Biolabs, Ziering Medical offers the world’s first non-invasive way to preserve hair follicle cells.
Acorn live cell preservation allows you to harvest and freeze your best hair follicle stem cells for future hair regenerative treatments. By freezing them at -196°C, their aging process is paused, making them available for future use.
The process is fast, easy, and painless and only about 50 hair follicles are collected from the safe donor zone through a minimally invasive procedure. Stem cell banking positions you for future treatments that could repair thinning hair, improve skin health, or support other regenerative therapies.

2. Laser Hair Therapy
Laser hair therapy uses low-level laser light to stimulate hair follicles, promoting growth and reducing hair loss. It’s non-invasive, painless, and safe for both men and women with pattern hair loss.
A leading option is the Ziering LaserCap—a portable, prescription-strength device with 304 laser diodes. It delivers low-level laser energy directly to the scalp to activate hair follicles. Just 30 minutes a day, three times a week can improve hair density and thickness within 60 days.
Laser hair therapy can be used on its own or combined with other treatments like topical solutions, oral medications, or hair transplants. It’s an effective, hands-free option for those looking to improve hair health and thickness, to reduce hair shedding, and to strengthen thinning hair without surgery.

3. Z-Factors
Z-Factors is a topical treatment developed by Dr. Craig Ziering to combat hair loss. It contains naturally occurring nanoparticles, including growth factors, exosomes, cytokines, extracellular vesicles, peptides, proteins, and hyaluronic acid. Together, they nourish hair follicles and promote healthier, fuller hair.
Unlike PRP treatments, Z-Factors doesn’t require blood draws or injections, making it a more convenient option. It’s applied directly to the scalp in a simple, in-office procedure with no downtime.
Z-Factors can be used alone or alongside other treatments like laser therapy or hair transplants. It’s suitable for individuals in the early to moderate stages of hair loss, those seeking non-surgical options, or anyone looking to enhance scalp health and hair density. Hair transplant patients with genetic hair loss may add Z-Factors to their ongoing hair loss prevention therapies and treatments.

4. KeraLaseâ„¢
KeraLase™ combines laser technology with the KeraFactor® Serum to stimulate hair growth and improve scalp health. It’s a non-invasive, pain-free procedure with no downtime.
With just two simple steps and a minimum of 3 treatments scheduled one month apart, many of our patients see a noticeable change. This can be done after a transplant or for those who want to stimulate hair growth. It’s beneficial for just about anyone! It’s ideal for anyone looking to enhance their current hair care routine.

5. MDEE Hair Transplant
Microscopically Dissected Elliptical Excision (MDEE), formerly known as strip FUT, is a refined hair transplant technique during which an elliptical strip of tissue is removed from the safe donor zone on the back of the head and dissected into the naturally occurring individual follicular units. Next, your hair transplant surgeon creates the recipient sites in the balding and thinning areas of your scalp followed by the Tech team gently placing those grafts at the proper angle and orientation into those recipient sites.
MDEE uses advanced microscopes, such as the Ziering Scope, to dissect donor tissue into individual follicular units with greater accuracy. This precision reduces graft transection rates, improving graft survival and yielding more natural-looking results. MDEE does leave a very fine linear scar which is concealed by the longer hair above the incision and remains to be a popular procedure for both men and women.
MDEE/FUT Before and After: Notice how the donor area healed cleanly in this MDEE/FUT surgery, with no visible scarring, even with the hair pushed up for a closer look.

Is Hair Cloning an Option for Hair Restoration?
We asked Dr. Ziering, Founder and Medical Director of Ziering Medical about the possibility of hair cloning as an option for hair restoration. Hear what he has to say:
Who Should Get Non-Surgical Options?
Non-surgical hair restoration has dual roles in hair loss patient treatment plans. Treatments like laser therapy, topicals, and oral medications are prescribed for those with early to moderate hair loss who want to slow down thinning or maintain their existing hair as well as hair transplant patients who have been diagnosed with androgenic alopecia who need to manage the progressive nature of genetic hair loss. These are ideal for people looking for a non-invasive approach with no downtime.
If you prefer to avoid surgery or scalp incisions, non-surgical treatments offer an effective way to support hair growth and improve hair density. These options are great for maintenance and prevention, especially if you want to be proactive about future hair loss. Keep in mind that these non-surgical therapies only work with consistent use. However, hair transplant surgery is the only permanent treatment option.
Who Should Get a Hair Transplant?
Hair transplants are recommended for people with advanced hair loss, significant balding, or patchy areas that non-surgical treatments can’t fully restore. If you’re looking for maximum coverage and a permanent solution, a hair transplant is your best option.
Hair transplants provide fuller, natural-looking results and are ideal for those comfortable with a minor surgical procedure and some recovery time. For over 20 years, the Ziering Medical Team has been NYC’s Most Trusted Hair Transplant Doctors with thousands of successful hair restoration surgeries performed.
