Because of their central position on the face, eyebrows are a defining attribute for balanced facial symmetry.

Surgical precision and skill is needed to recreate the appropriate acute angle that hair exits skin as well as the directional changes that take place in the eyebrow. The hair begins pointing upward at its medial aspect where the eyebrow begins near the nose. The process begins with your surgeon artistically crafting the shape of the transplanted eyebrow, using the patient’s facial anatomy and bone structure as a guide. Ziering Surgeons and their patients collaborate on the design and the outcome. Like traditional hair transplants, the procedure begins with the examination and removal of the donor tissue strip. The donor hair is taken from the back of the head where the hair is genetically programmed to not fall out. The salient difference is that the donor hair is not shaved short or the donor hair is left long. The length of the hair in the transplantable zone determines the length of the donor hair, meaning the donor is left at the length of the patient’s own eyebrow hair so that they can see results taking shape during their procedure and see the final outcome the same day of their eyebrow transplant. Hence the name, Sneak-Peek Long Hair Transplant. Next, the donor hair is dissected under Ziering Scopes into single hair grafts.

An eyebrow transplant surgery requires 150 – 300 or more hairs per eyebrow depending on the degree of loss and the eyebrow hair transplant design. Recipient sites are created with special attention given to the angle, orientation and direction of each site. An additional benefit of using long hair grafts for the eyebrow restoration procedure is that it aids in making the recipient sites at more exacting angles because the full characteristics of each hair is discernable. It also aids in graft placement, because we can rotate each hair more intentionally to enhance the architecture of the new eyebrow arch based on the personality of each hair. Employing this eyebrow hair transplant technique, gives the surgeon a more long range vision or a glimpse of the completed eyebrows, allowing the best use of the donor hair in all its natural glory. It provides more control in the eyebrow hair transplant surgical process which elevates the artistic level of the procedure and ultimately gives the patient a superior final outcome.

Similar to the traditional hair transplant procedures, the newly transplanted hair will fall out after several weeks as the follicle enters the resting or telogen phase. Then the eyebrow hair will grow back in the set design of the eyebrow restoration procedure during the growth or anagen phase. Transplanted eyebrows require grooming and maintenance as they are scalp hairs which are programmed to grow longer than your normal eyebrow hair. “I’ve been a brow artist so I truly understand the power of a beautiful brow, and the way they can enhance facial features. When I heard about eyebrow transplants, I knew it would probably be right for me as my hereditary eyebrows were sparse and I made them even thinner from millennial over-plucking. Additionally, they were much lower in growth pattern than I wanted. I felt my procedure was a little Casanova as I requested more grafts than usual. I was going for that Cara Delavigne/ Gigi Hadid, never-been-plucked level of thick and I had some very scanty brows in place.

Some advice: It’s important to understand that you may expect your after to look like an eyebrow model, but to get your eyebrows to look on point/peak/fleak you have to trim and style them. I still use a little pencil or powder to further artistically define their shape, yet I no longer feel like I always have to be wearing pencil to avoid looking sickly. Learning to trim and style transplanted brows can be tricky if you’re not a makeup pro, so I would say having a brow stylist who’s familiar with transplants to show how you how, can go very far.
