The FUT Hair Transplant

The FUT hair transplant method is a specific approach to hair transplantation. The procedure provides an ideal donor hair harvest and excellent results. The benefits include a proven method, hair regrowth that endures as time passes, natural looking results, and a good yield of harvested hairs. The FUT hair transplant is also referred to as strip grafting. The procedure involves several different steps to perform the FUT, or follicular unit transplant.

The donor area is almost always at the back of the head. This area is trimmed and tape is used on the hair above to ensure it does not affect the donor site. A local anesthetic is then used to numb the donor site. It is not necessary to shave or trim the hair. A donor tissue strip is removed during surgery. The tissue is dissected using a special microscope and the individual follicular units are properly prepared.

The targeted area of the scalp is numbed using local anesthesia. Extremely small openings are made using an irregular pattern designed to mimic the natural growth of the hair. The micro-grafts are placed carefully within the tiny openings. The transplant results in hundreds of extremely small incisions. New grafts of hair are protruding from these openings. The new hair growth begins in approximately four months, leading to a fuller head of hair you can call your own.
