As 2007 comes to a close and we reflect on the many happenings of the past 52 weeks it is apparent that as much as change is afoot [some favorable and some not and much overdue] we can take solace in the fact that at its core there persists a recognition amongst most of us that health and vitality are positive and desirable states of being – worth striving for despite the ever increasingly difficult path to actualization.
So in the way of encouragement let it be said that persistence and diligence do have their rewards and despite the bleakness of the outlook on issues of enormous magnitude that have come into focus this year – one needn’t look further than our own backyards to see the evidence of this as our academic corridors and athletic fields and community centers continue to graduate capable youths representing tomorrow’s hopes for a better and brighter world.
The exuberance of this youthful contingent of course must be guided so as to prevent wayward drift. This critical task falls to us – the no longer fleet of foot but wiser in the ways of the world faction. Our job…to act as beacons – not by virtue of our shiny pates [ ZM plug ] but rather by our shining acts of leadership and valor.
So let us together view 2008 as an opportunity to both realign and advance the principals and tenets which we hold to be unassailable and vital to the health and well-being of our future as a people.
